    In this session participants will learn effective and positive ways to engage with OST participants who have different learning abilities. Participants will learn about the different types of learning abilities, and how they effect a students learning experience. This session will be facilitated by Variety, the Children's Charity of Delaware County. Please be prepared to discuss challenges that you are currently facing at your OST site. Due to limited capacity, please limit attendance to no more than two staff members per site.

  • Inclusivity 101

    This training will focus on and discuss inclusive tools and techniques which can be adopted into OST programming. The Inclusivity training will include and cover topics such as: creating inclusive activities; developing a culture of inclusivity; and supporting caregivers of youth with special needs.

  • Decoding Today’s Youth: Behavior, Anxiety, and Practical Supports

    This session will examine why so many youth today present similar behavioral patterns and how anxiety rewrites the developing brain. Frontline staff will learn to decode behavior in ways that foster connection and create an inclusive environment.

  • Stronger Together: High‑Impact Family Engagement in OST

    This session explores how OST programs can build meaningful, strengths based partnerships with parents. Participants learn strategies for creating welcoming environments, establishing trust, and engaging families as co creators of student success. The session introduces practical communication practices that deepen relationships and ensure families feel valued. Staff will examine how cultural responsiveness, transparency, and shared decision making strengthen program quality and student outcomes. By the end, participants will be equipped with tools to amplify parent expertise and build collaborative partnerships that support young people holistically.

    Including children with disabilities in child and youth development programs can be very challenging, but nothing is more rewarding than witnessing a child make a friend, enjoy a game, or experience an accomplishment. This training is designed to help you explore your thoughts and feelings about disability inclusion, understand socially responsible language, and make a plan to overcome an inclusion barrier in your program.

  • Supporting Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder

    Autism Spectrum Disorder impacts the developmental skills of children and youth in a variety of ways that can impact their participation and relationships. This training will explore strategies to support social interactions, communication, and sensory processing needs. This training will ask participants to focus on the essential question: What challenges do children/youth with ASD experience?

    Effective data use is essential for strengthening quality, guiding decision‑making, and demonstrating impact in out‑of‑school time programs, and this interactive session will equip participants with practical strategies for collecting, interpreting, and applying data to improve outcomes. Featuring insights from OST program leaders and a funder, attendees will engage in hands‑on activities, reflect on current data practices, and leave with concrete next steps to enhance meaningful, data‑informed decision‑making.

  • Engage, Connect, Enroll: A Family‑Focused Approach to Recruitment

    This session focuses on effective, relationship-centered strategies for recruiting for OST programs. Participants will learn where and how to connect with parents authentically to spark interest and build trust. We’ll explore how to align messaging about program benefits with what families care about most. Attendees will gain practical tools to strengthen community presence and increase enrollment through connection rather than promotion.
