This interactive professional development session equips frontline after-school staff with the tools and understanding needed to foster a positive, safe, and structured learning environment. Participants will learn to define Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and explore its vital role in promoting student success and well-being. The session highlights how Social Emotional Learning (SEL) connects to PBS, emphasizing emotional regulation as a key factor in maintaining positive behavior. Through real-world examples and hands-on activities, staff will practice practical strategies—such as positive reinforcement, redirection, pre-correction, and modeling appropriate behavior—to encourage consistency and structure across settings. Participants will also reflect on their own approaches and commit to implementing at least one new PBS or SEL strategy to strengthen daily student interactions and program culture.
